In the year 2003 the Institute took a broader leap towards starting teacher training programme by establishing B.Ed as one of the prgrammes in Education at the Institute. Further we successfully attained a total intake of 100 seats that were allotted by H.P. University.

According to the National Council for Teacher Education (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations, 2014, the Bachelor of Education Program, known as B.Ed, shall be of duration of two academic years.

Bachelor of Education is a professional course that prepares teachers for upper primary or middle level (classes VI-VIII), secondary level (Classes IX-X) and senior secondary level (classes XI-XII).

Regulations and Syllabus for Two Years B.Ed Programme – Regular Mode
With effect from the Academic Session 2015-16

Duration and Working Days:

Duration:
The B.Ed programme shall be of duration of two academic years, which can be completed in a maximum of three years from the date of admission to the programme.
The B.ED program through regular mode is spread across four semesters in two years.

Working Days:
a) There shall be at least two hundred working days each year, 100 working days in each semester exclusive of the period of examination and admission.
b) The minimum attendance of student – teacher shall have to be 80% for all course work and practicum, and 90% for Field attachments/School Internship/ Practice Teaching.

Evaluation:
The performance of students in each course will be evaluated in terms of percentage of marks with a provision for conversion to grade points. Evaluation for each course shall be done by continuous comprehensive assessment by the concerned course teacher and ESE (End-Semester Examination), and will be consolidated at the end of the course.
The evaluation system of the students has two following components:

i) Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCA) accounting for 20% of the total marks assigned to a particular course.
ii) End-Semester Examination (ESE) accounting for the remaining 80% of the total marks of assigned to a particular course.

Internship in Teaching / Practice Teaching:
The students are required to go through a school internship of five months (20 Weeks) during two years in the schools under the supervision of a teacher educator of the Institution concerned in which a particular student is studying.
• The school internship of one-month (4 weeks) duration will be held in second semester.
• The school internship of four months (16 weeks) duration will be held in third semester.
• Final examination of teaching practice / intership in teaching will take place in third semester after the completion of manadatory lessons i.e. 50 macro lessons in each of the teaching subject.

Intake:
NCTE (NRC) Govt. of India, has recognized RTTI, for an intake of two units with 50 seats in each unit. The total number of seats available in B.Ed is 100.

Fee Structure for B.Ed Course:
The fee structure of B. Ed. (Private Institutions) is Rs. 46,750/- (Rs. 46,750/- Fees + 10% Levy charges) (Rupees Forty Six thousand Seven hundred fifty only) as per H. P. University notification vide letter No. 1-533/2009-HPU(Acad) dated 30th May, 2013 till further orders.

The Fees per annum for B.Ed Course is Rs 46,750/- (Forty Six thousand Seven hundred and fifty only)

Admission Procedure:
Admission shall be made on merit basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination or in the entrance examination.
Students who have appeared in the IIIrd year examinations of B.A./ B.Sc/ B.Com can also apply for the course.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification:
i)The candidate with at least 50% marks either in the Bachelor’s Degree (medical/Non-Medical/Commerce/Arts) and or in the Master’s Degree in Sciences/ Social Sciences / Humanity, Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto and 45% marks in case of SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped categories in the aforesaid Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree and 50% for Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology from a recognized University established by law in India are eligible for admission to the programme.

Note: No relaxation, even 0.01% in the above-prescribed percentage of marks shall be granted under any circumstances.

ii) The candidates who have appeared in the final year of graduation or master degree or any other qualification equivalent thereto examination and the result
of the same has not yet been declared can also apply for the course. However, the admission will be made subject to the production of certificate of qualifying examination with required percentage of aggregate marks in the aforesaid examinations as per the eligibility clause of the prospectus on the day of admission/counsleling.

In case the eligibility criteria are not met, the candidate has no right to get the admission to the B.Ed Course.

Age:
There is no upper age limit for candidates applying to the regular B.ED course of two years. [High Court orders in LPA No.: 104 of 2012 decided on August 27, 2012]

Reservation Roster: All India reservation Roster as approved by the Government of India will be applicable.
i) 85% seats in the B.Ed Course are reserved for Bonafide /Domicile Himachali candidates and 15% seats are reserved for the students of other States as per the Orders of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India (Civil Appeal No 4641 of 2007)
ii) 10% out of 85% of Himachali Bonafide state quota seats in the Institution shall be the Management quota seats and are brought out of the purview of centralized counseling to be conducted by the Univeristy. i.e. 85% in case of 100 seats allotted to the Colleges as per the orders of the Hon’ble High Court of H.P. vide CWP no. 4500 of 2009 dated July 29, 2010. These seats will be filled up on priority basis by the college management.

Admission to the B.Ed Course is subject based:
At the time of admission, each candidate shall opt for two teaching subjects. A candidate can opt only those teaching subjects, which he/she has studied at graduation / post-graduation level. The candidate must have studied the subjects of the subject combination for at least three years at Bachelor’s level and two years at Master’s level.
